Modeling Management and Climate Change Impacts on Water Pollution by Heavy Metals in the Nizhnekamskoe Reservoir Watershed

The semi-distributed physically based ECOMAG-HM model was applied to simulate the cycling of heavy metals (HM) Cu, Zn, and Mn, identify spatial temporal patterns metal pollution in water bodies a large river catchment Nizhnekamskoe reservoir (NKR) Russia. main is Belaya River, one most polluted rivers Southern Urals. tested against long-term data on hydrological hydrochemical monitoring bodies. It shown that formed mainly due diffuse wash-off into from soil-ground layer. Numerical experiments assess impact economic activities were carried out by modeling scenarios changes amount discharged with wastewater, disaster salvo discharge pollutants, exclusion anthropogenic self-purification basin. Modeling chemical runoff accordance delta-change climatic scenario showed significant quality characteristics should not be expected near future up 2050.
